Our inaugural Bubbles & Bliss event
Our inaugural event was a resounding success with the generous crowd of 230 helping us to raise an amazing $45,000!
These funds were donated to the Mater Foundation and funded a nurse to run an Ascities trial with patients in Brisbane. Ascities is the the accumulation of fluid which causes abdominal swelling. Nat was affected by Ascities so we were very proud to be able to contribute to this trial.
Bubbles & Bliss2017
In 2017 our Bubbles & Bliss event raised the funds to purchase a Scalp Cooling system for the Mater Cancer Care Centre. This machine is a non-invasive treatment that can help patients retain some or all of their hair and ultimately improve patients self confidence leading to a positive attitude to treatment.
Bubbles & Bliss2018
2018 was another wonderful event with so many of our generous sponsors returning to help us again. We were also honoured to have the lovely Melissa Downes as master of ceremonies and the generous Andrew Degn donating his valuable time and expertise as our auctioneer. The funds raised from this event were channeled to tailored treatment programs being undertaken by Dr Cameron Snell, Senior Medical Oncologist at the Mater.
Bubbles & Bliss2019
We are very excited to announce that this years’ funds will be directed toward a brand new project – The Breast Cancer Biobank. This is a joint venture between Mater and QUT’s Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI). The research has the potential to allow the development of new tests to diagnose breast cancer earlier; and collected tissue samples are being used in cutting-edge new technology to test patient-specific medications.
Bubbles & Bliss 2019 will be held on Friday 22 November at Hillstone St Lucia.
Nat lost her courageous 19 year battle with breast cancer in December 2015. Nat never lost her dignity, compassion or sense of humour.
Nat’s family and friends are determined to honour Natalie and keep her memory alive while supporting breast cancer research at the Mater Foundation.
